Membership and Community
Membership in AASC spans the full spectrum of the cardiology community – from medical students and internal medicine residents interested in cardiology, to cardiology fellows-in-training, early-career cardiologists, and senior practitioners. The common thread is a connection to Arab heritage or a dedication to supporting Arab American colleagues in cardiology. In its first year, AASC’s membership rapidly grew to over 200 members, reflecting enthusiasm for its mission Members hail from across the United States, and some international members (such as medical graduates from the Middle East pursuing training in the US) are also involved in the community.
As a society, AASC serves as “a community to bring talents and shape the future of Arab American physicians and researchers in Cardiology”, providing a sense of belonging and shared identityinstalker.org. The organization encourages members to support one another’s professional growth. For example, senior cardiologists in AASC often mentor younger members, while trainees benefit from advice on fellowship applications, research opportunities, and career paths. Through both in-person events and an active online presence (e.g. on cardiology social media forums like #CardioTwitter), AASC members connect regularly to exchange knowledge and offer guidance.
