History and Formation

AASC emerged from informal gatherings of Arab American cardiologists at major conferences. It “all began with the annual ACC dinners at #ACC2023 and #ACC2024,” where Arab heritage cardiovascular specialists convened socially These meet-ups revealed a strong desire for a more structured community, leading to the official launch of the Arab American Society of Cardiology in mid-2024. The society quickly gained momentum – by late 2024 AASC had grown to over 200 physician members in its network Early organizers of AASC included prominent cardiologists and fellows who recognized the potential of uniting their peers.

AASC held its first inaugural meeting during the American College of Cardiology’s 2025 Scientific Session (ACC.25 in Chicago). This milestone event was a formal dinner and networking session that brought together a large contingent of Arab American cardiovascular professionals. Over 120 cardiologists and fellows attended the inaugural AASC meeting at ACC.25, making it a proud moment of community unity The gathering was not only a social success but also highlighted the academic strength of the group – AASC members contributed 75+ research posters and presentations at the ACC.25 conference  showcasing the community’s impact in cardiovascular research. This inaugural meeting, described by participants as “a moment of pride, power, and purpose,” laid the foundation for AASC’s ongoing activities and “legacy of excellence in cardiovascular care”

Over 100 Arab American cardiologists, fellows, residents, and students came together for this historic event The society’s launch at ACC.25 marked a significant milestone in uniting the Arab American cardiology community.

Membership and Community

Membership in AASC spans the full spectrum of the cardiology community – from medical students and internal medicine residents interested in cardiology, to cardiology fellows-in-training, early-career cardiologists, and senior practitioners. The common thread is a connection to Arab heritage or a dedication to supporting Arab American colleagues in cardiology. In its first year, AASC’s membership rapidly grew to over 200 members, reflecting enthusiasm for its mission Members hail from across the United States, and some international members (such as medical graduates from the Middle East pursuing training in the US) are also involved in the community.

Impact and Community Achievements

In summary, the Arab American Society of Cardiology has quickly established itself as a vibrant, impactful organization within the cardiology landscape. Through its focus on mentorship, networking, and recognition, AASC “connects talents and shapes futures” for Arab American cardiologists The society’s initiatives – from annual gatherings and educational webinars to newsletters and research collaborations – have created a strong support system for its members. Moving forward, AASC is poised to continue growing its legacy of excellence in cardiovascular care, fostering the next generation of leaders, and uniting professionals who share a rich cultural heritage and a passion for heart health. The achievements to date, and the enthusiasm of its community, suggest that AASC will remain a driving force in empowering Arab American physicians and enhancing their contributions to cardiology
